Backyard remodels ($7,500 minimum and up)
Where you live moves the number less than what you build.
Remodel-class projects ($7,500+) by city. Small samples are labeled, we publish what the data supports and nothing more.
Local planning context matters even when scope drives most of the budget. Compare our guides to outdoor living in Frisco and McKinney, then see how those decisions come together in the Hollyhock outdoor kitchen and Erwin Farms backyard renovation.
Real anchors from named scopes.
Utilities, appliance packages, masonry and cover requirements are the biggest variables in an outdoor kitchen, while a complete backyard renovation combines several systems into one coordinated scope. Use the investment-level guide to see how those scopes change as budgets grow, and the materials guide to compare surface choices.
Source: True Star Outdoor Solutions internal job records (JobTread). This analysis covers 132 completed residential projects recorded during the stated research period, January 2025 to July 2026, across 24 DFW cities. It represents a defined subset of True Star's 500+ completed projects. Figures are approved contract prices, rounded; change orders included where approved. "Backyard remodels" = the 54 projects at or above our current $7,500 project minimum. Commercial and HOA contracts are excluded from all residential figures. Samples under 5 projects are labeled. Projects below our minimum (typically small paver, border, and repair work) are excluded from headline stats and summarized only in the distribution note. We republish these figures as the dataset grows; last field-verified July 19, 2026.
Across 54 completed True Star backyard remodels (projects at or above our $7,500 minimum, Jan 2025 to Jul 2026), the median was $20,091. The typical range ran $11,700 to $32,400, and the top 10% exceeded $65,000. Your exact number depends on scope; these are real contract prices, not estimates.
Our project minimum is $7,500. Below that, limited-scope paver and border work is occasionally possible, but our crews and design process are built for full backyard remodels, covered patios, outdoor kitchens, hardscape, turf, and drainage delivered as one project by one team.
Four drivers move the number most: structure (a shingle-matched covered patio adds engineering, permits, and roofing), site conditions (drainage on expansive clay, access, demo), materials (travertine and natural stone run above concrete pavers), and utilities (gas, electrical, and lighting rough-ins). Two yards of the same size can be $25,000 apart on scope alone.
